Red Stick Fly Fishers / March 27 fly tying
« Last post by Catch on March 27, 2017, 02:25:50 AM »
Our next monthly fly tying session will be on Monday, March 27, at the Orvis store on 7601 Bluebonnet Boulevard (Perkins-Rowe). Time is 7:00pm.

Sydney Dobson will be tying the Carrot Nymph. There are a couple flies which share this name. This particular one was created by Ed Schroeder as an attractor nymph for trout. However, it does very well for all species of bream.

Bring your tying tools if you have some. If not, the club has a few sets for use. Materials are provided.

As always, beginners and other visitors are welcome!

New Orleans Fly Fishers / Warmwater Fly Swap - 2017
« Last post by Sean-NOLA on March 02, 2017, 10:49:00 PM »
The New Orleans Fly Fishers Club is hosting a Warmwater Fly Swap during the month of March. We have created a Facebook Event for the swap.  Click on the following link is a fun way to share our fishing and tying knowledge with each other. For those who have not participated in a fly swap, this is how it works:

1. Sign up for the Warmwater Fly Swap. This can be done be either marking yourself as "going" on the event page, or you can email us at to let us know you will be participating.

2. Choose a Warmwater Fly Pattern that you would like to tie. If you sign up on the event page, please post the name of the pattern on the event page, so we can add it to the list. If you sign up by emailing the club, please include the name of the fly pattern you will be tying.

3. The last day to sign up for the Warmwater Fly Swap will be March 16th. When this date arrives, we will let you know how many flies you need to tie for the Swap, which will take place at the March 30th general meeting.

4. At the March 30th meeting everyone will get a chance to talk about their fly, how they tied it, and how to fish it! We will collect the flies, and give all participating tyers a collection of flies from the swap. We will also be drawing, from the names of the participants, for a chance to win a bonus selection of flies!

Fly swaps are a great opportunity to share our knowledge and passion for flyfishing and tying. We hope you join us for the 1st NOFF Fly Swap of 2017!
