Lee, I use a 2 or 3 wt. rod for the exact reason you showed in your pics. Folks can rave about trout and other fish on heavier weight rods, but for me 2/3 wt. is the way to go. My good friend Flyfish is the one who got me into UL fly fishing and I thanks him every time I go out and catch 'gills on a 2/3 wt. they are about as much fun as a person can have with his/her clothes on. I enjoy UL fly fishing and I don't think I'll ever go back to 8/9 wt. rods, if I want to target larger bass I'll use my 4 or 5 wt. rods. Enjoy the bass and gills. Take care, John.
John,I got my line on the 2wt and finally got to take it to a local pond and i had a blast. To feel those little fish fighting like they did was awesome. This will quickly become my favorite rod to fish with.

Rick, I wish I could have shipped you some of our rain last night. Rain guage says 3.6'' wife and I went to sleep with sound of rain and thunder off in the distance. I'll try to see if I can get the weather folks here to ship you some rain. Take care, John.

Fishing Reports / Tried 8-4 am

Went to a pond this morning.  Water looked like pea soup.
No rain and warm temp means a lot of algae.
Got four small bass and that was it.
Humble pie is not hat good to eat.

Hey Cliff,

I am sure you are like me, just being on the Colorado is a joy and experience within itself. Nice bass also.
