Chenille Panfish Spider

This is a very simple spider pattern to tie and i have caught many fish with them.
Tie them in different colors.
Most productive is probably black/chartreuse but also good is Black/yellow or white/red.

I am curious if you get a lot of fish hitting the long legs.
My preference would to have the legs at least 1/2 that long.
I find the fish don't hit the legs then.

Rick,I usually tie them with shorter legs also but have not really noticed a difference in how they affect the catch.They usually just suck the fly in and go with it.
Bluegill are curious little fish.I tried them longer for the action they would create.I figured short legs would be stiffer and with the longer legs,every little twitch of my line would make them kick and have a more live action.
Same with a small popper.I never notice them hitting the long legs.They just eat that popper.
I cannot say if they are any better with longer legs but they sure work. :smile:
