Saltwater help
« on: June 28, 2017, 01:23:34 PM »
I'll be taking the family to Jekyll Island next May and plan doing a "little" bit of fishing while there. If I can hire a guide I'll be supplied with tackle but don't know if that'll happen. From the reports I've checked out there's redfish and sea trout in the river's and marshes. I'm looking to get a Rio redfish line if I don't fish with guide. The water temps average 75f and air is low 80s, should I get the tropic version or is that not warm enough for it or would the cold water version be better?

Butch,  that line will do just fine.  Don't get the cold water one.  If you have not fished much with an 8wt rod and heavy clousers be sure to practice a lot on your double haul.  Good luck.  Of course, we think the best redfish grounds are here in south Louisiana.
